Our mares are part of the family and are riding horses as well as
broodmares.
Foals from Westwynd Farm should make great all-around horses and
offer tölt easily, while at the same time have solid temperaments and
good conformation.
No horse is perfect in every way, but we make sure that when we
breed, we select evaluated stallions that will compliment our mares to
produce the best outcome.
Natural gait is important and we do not use weighted shoes/boots to
achieve it.  Our horses are trained using TTeam methods, ground
driving and dressage and learn to accept the rider and equipment gently,
not forcibly.
The goal is partnership.
Brenna from Pegasus
USIHC# US1999201420
1999 Chestnut mare
Tandri from Pegasus x Ogn frá Blönduósi

Brenna is our first Icelandic and very dear to our hearts.
We purchased her primarily as a family/riding horse which
is a job she excels at.  Bren is well rounded and is equally at
home on the trail as well as in the ring and has done very
well at shows.  Her solid and kind disposition combined
with her easy tölt makes her a priceless part of our family.
Right now she is teaching our Daughter to ride, as well as
giving lessons.
Brenna had a lovely Palomino filly named Sóley in 2005 by
Flygill frá Mosfellsbæ.
She is confirmed in foal for 2008 by first prize bay dun
stallion
Mani frá Raufarfelli.

Elja from Lone Cedar
USIHC #US2003202295
2003 Black mare
Draumur frá Hrísum x Askja frá Akureyri

El is quite a character and is always the first to greet anyone
and the first to get into everything!  Having purchased her
as a weanling, it's been a wonderful experience watching
her mature and we are excited to see what the future holds
for her.   She is five gaited with a lovely flowing trot and
tölt.  Our goal is to have her fully evaluated.  Elja was
started under saddle in January.
Her Sire has an overall score of 8.0 and her Dam scored
7.96 as a four-gaiter (with 9 for tölt).
Her extended pedigree includes Þáttur frá Kirkjubæ, Hrafn
frá Holtsmúla and Baldur frá Bakka.  She is currently about
13.1 hands.
Elja is confirmed in foal to first prize bay dun stallion
Mani
frá Raufarfelli for 2008.

Elja's conformation evaluation, Boise, Idaho, 9/2006:

Head: 8.5
Neck, withers, shoulders: 8.0
Back and croup: 8.5
Proportions: 8.0
Leg quality: 7.5
Joints: 7.5
Hooves:7.5
Mane and tail: 7.5

Overall score: 7.87

Ísafold from Lone Cedar
USIHC #US2006203299
2006 Yellow/Bay Dun Filly
Vífill frá Keldudal x Gjósta from Pegasus

Ísa is a lovely girl with promising gaits and an excellent
pedigree (Hrafn frá Holtsmúla, Höldur frá Brún, Ófeigur
frá Flugumýri and Þáttur frá Kirkjubæ) to top it off.  She is
five gaited and already about 13-13.1 hands!

Her Sire is a 13.3 hand red dun first prize stallion with
scores of 8.18 for conformation and 8.09 for riding.
Overall score: 8.13
Her Dam is a lovely bay mare with easy tölt, nice
conformation and disposition. Gjósta is known for
producing big and well-gaited offspring, and Ísa is no
exception.
She is growing up so fast!  Even in this awkward growing
stage, she gets prettier every day.   We hope to have her
fully evaluated when she is old enough.
